Default Support for the Boys

Are there any support groups or forums that are targeted at boys with scoliosis?

My 16 year old son has has 2 x surgeries in the past 9 months (T10-L3 fusion) & seems to have lost so much confidence since the second surgery. He has been given the all clear to resume school, swimming & most normal activities but he can't seem to move on. He was always a motivated & keen sportsman before but now it feels like we are just marking time.

Thank you for your enquiry.

Usually after a T10-L3 fusion for scoliosis, patients are freed for sport excluding contact/collision games and sports with associated high impact. There are so many sports which can be undertaken after a successful spinal fusion.

I suggest that you write to the surgeon concerning outlining the difficulties that you face and seek an early appointment so that your son can have a clear understanding of what he can and cannot do.

I trust this advice is helpful.
