Default non compliance post op

Hi my niece had a thoracic rod put in about 6 weeks ago, she is doing great and moving around very well, you cant even tell she has rods in her back! But now she is back at school year 8 she will not let anyone carry her books or bag and is carrying these herself including her bag on her back! she is 12 her bag weighs 5-6kg, i dont know what to do she wont listen! is it really a problem at this stage?
your advice will be greatly appreciated

Thank you for your enquiry.

Scoliosis surgeons have set routines for post-operative management in matters such as the one you have brought up, participation in sport and so on. I suggest that you call the surgeon's office and ask the question through his secretary. She may well be able to give you an answer on the spot.

It is reasonable to say that if your niece is not experiencing any discomfort in her back then nothing serious is astray.
