Hi bee_babe

The pain management site is http://www.painmanagement.org.au/
There is lots of information (look under the self help tab).
You can become a member which provides lots more information (look under the members tab).
They also have a PAIN LINK HELPLINE 1300 340 357.

Cheers

I don't even know why I bothered seeing a specialist in the hospital it was a complete waist of my time he didn't tell me my curves my Cobb angle if my back will stay the same or get worse all he said is I don't need surgery and to see my local doctor for pain meds I am so angry and annoyed!!! so here I am again with no answers and no clue of what's going on with me should I get a second opinion??

Bee, was the specialist you saw a Scoli or Neuro? Having said that, I had both and both came to the same conclusion regarding surgery! I read some of your earlier posts regarding one arm being weaker than the other, do you have a sore neck as well? I would definitely get a second opinion. I actually don't understand how some Drs just dish out pain medication as if they were candy or something! I believe that strong pain meds may be a solution short term - but long term...no way. I would seek a second opinion with the help of your GP - but be firm with your GP and tell him that this time you want some quality answers, not some no mans land answers. Trust me I understand your frustration and so would many on here. I do hope you get some answers quickly, be strong RB

Hi Bee_Babe

It certainly can't hurt to get a second opinion. Having read lots of views on this forum, I would suggest you try one of the spinal specialists listed on the Scoliosis Australia website:
http://www.scoliosis-australia.org/s...ecialists.html
I think you will need a referral from your gp.
As with going to any doctor or medical person, I would suggest you have a written list of questions you would like answered and / or problems you need some kind of resolution for. My daughter's first spinal specialist appointment is in a few weeks and I am preparing a list of questions for that so I don't forget anything.
Not specifically related to scoliosis, but about 35 years ago, it took 8 years of doctor shopping before my mum was correctly diagnosed with gallstones. Just goes to show sometimes one needs more than a second opinion - persevere until you find the answers you need.

Cheers
Carol

My specialist was a neurosurgeon not a scoliosis specialist I do get pain in my neck and all over my back thigh hips and right foot all he said was I don't need surgery but you can see on X-rays that I have scoliosis kyposis and maybe some lordis also but MRI showed no nerve impingement I'm seeing my gp tomorrow and ill get her to help me find a scoliosis specialist so I can get a second opinion as I am not happy with my first opinion ill be telling her I want some answers to my back problems I can't be having all this pain for nothing!

If you've got some weight to spare, losing it may help relieve some pressure on your back. Similarly, when I was pre-op. If I carried anything heavy, my pain was always worse.
