Default Surgery in March 2015

Hello I am 50 years of age and due to have my op in Melbourne in March. My surgeon is performing an anterior with fusion will be T11-L3. He advised because of my age sometimes it is possible once they go in they might find I do not have the flexibility. He said if this is the case they will have to preform posterior some days later. How far into the surgery will he know will he still remove my rib and will the scar be large ?
Confused

Dear Annette

Thank you for your questions. These relate to very specific and technical issues that should be directed to your surgeon. Sorry that I canít help here, but there are many variables that canít be properly considered in this forum.
