After a bit of a delay we now have my daughters boston brace. She's worn it for the last two nights without issues (a little rubbing on the back as she sleeps on her back most of the time). We are going to start some day wearing today but I am finding it difficult to put on. The dr recommended doing it while she lies on her stomach but she hates it. Due to her intellectual disability she doesn't understand what it is all about
![]() Sorry if this sounds like a giant whinge, my husband is away and I figured you guys would understand. On a more positive note, I know that the long term benefits are going to out weigh the negatives ![]() Veronica |

Hi Veronica,
I hope we can provide some support here. I must admit that i wore Bonds boys singlets under my brace... but that was a while ago. There are lots of fun colurs now with Bonds singlets in the female range. Somewhere like cotton on often has singlets in summer that are quite long, they might help? As for getting it on, at first it was really hard for me. I had to get mum to help. I would be standing up, and put it over one hip and get mum to stretch it around me from left to right. It does get easier, i promise! |

Thanks Chic Chick. This forum is great. I have read through old and new posts and gained a lot of helpful information.
As hard as I am finding putting on the brace and not having it too tight or loose (we're still working that bit out) we have been very surprised that although our daughter complains a lot she is actually trying to put it on herself when I tell her its brace time. She is also sleeping better with it on than she has in years. We are going to introduce her wearing to school over the next week and see how that goes. We went back to the hospital this week for any adjustments and hole drilling to find the specialist isn't 100% happy with the brace and is making a new one which we'll pick up at the end of the month when we attend scoliosis clinic.
