4yr Spinal Fusion T10/T12 & T11 Hemiveterbraectomy

Hi Dr Scoliosis,

In Dec 2011 my daughter (3) had a serious accident in which she was hospitailised for 6wks. On her admission after a full spinal MRI it was discovered that she has Scoloisis, Hemivertebrae, Butterfly discs and a Arnold Chiari Malformation. We had a call from the hospital on Oct 17 to say her surgery is schedlued for Oct 29th. I am serching for some more information on her condition and information about post surgery outcomes. We unfortunately have not had the extra consults with the Drs @ hospital. Really unsure as to what to expect post surgery and as an ongoing condition. Thank you in Advance..

I note the very complex medical history which you have summarised but on the information as set down I really cannot give you any advice. If you are aware of the doctor in charge of your daughter's case you should contact his rooms and ask his secretary for an appointment indicating your concerns about lack of information on the condition.

Suffice it to say there is a relationship between an Arnold Chiari malformation and scoliosis but this is an extremely complex matter and it would be most unwise for me to say anything definite in relation to possible outcome of the treatment. Clearly, you need to be better informed.

I regret I can’t be more helpful on this occasion.
