Default what tape & ointment if necessary after shower

Hello

It would be great if someone can come back tonight on this.

Missgm is 3wks post op, bandage off and decided to redress the scar after a shower. Do we put any ointment on?

Is it just a reapplication of the tape?

What has everyone else done?

I have the same tape, but no ointment. Pharmacist said no ointment.

Any advice welcome.

Di

Righto, it was text a friend in the know. Hypafix tape that I bought at the chemist today is correct. its about $3 a meter and only used half a meter & half the width. worked a treat.

No ointment.

Doc said the plastic surgeons suggest to keep the tape on for up to 6wks.

Happy now.

Hi there,

We kept re-applying the tape for just over 6 weeks. We were advised that the tape helps the scar to heal "flat", also in summer it prevents sun damage to the new tissue. The scar looks very good, now just waiting for it to fade, which only time can take care of.

Cheers, Kay
