I know I'm a bit late here, but how's Dane going now?

Hi everyone
We have just passed the 6 week mark and Dane tried a day at school. He did say his back got sore but it was a nice break to get out of the house.

He didn't go two days in a row and will try a day or two again next week - lucky it is just the last week of school. He is not taking any pain killers at all now - not even Panadol.

His scar has healed - so happy he didn't get infection. He still sometimes looks a bit crooked but the back is definitely straighter.

He now sits in a proper chair with better (still not perfect) posture and walks tall and straight. He is rolling his shoulders in a bit - but nagging a teenager doesn't give me positive results unfortunately.

I am keen to get him back to school -he has spent way to much time playing computer games now. I am very thankful that after such major surgery the recovery time is relatively short.

I feel for those of you who have to face additional surgery - it is so hard on both the patient and the carer. Emotionally I really couldn't face it again.

I have been very busy after taking 3 weeks off - so find it hard being away from home during my son's recovery. You are all much better Mum's than I am.

Best of luck to you all.

Love Chris
