Lightbulb Scoliosis Classes In Sydney

Hey Everyone, I am 26 year old with Scoliosis. It has degenerated quite a lot over the past 5 years. I have tried a few things to avoid surgery being a lot of core exercises, personal training mixed with frequent Physiotherapy- which I must admit helped a lot to relieve the pain and made me feel like I was standing straighter and not so twisted. Only problem with this is when you stop your routine which I did due to a very busy lifestyle, the scoliosis came twisting back harding with a vengeance plus the added excitement of sciatica, hooray!

So I've seen several Orthopaedic Surgeon they all seem to say the same thing, I'm looking after my body, yes the curve is getting worse, and yes you need surgery eventually- still trying to avoid it though.

I have now had Epidural steroid injection into my spine for the sciatica due to a slipped disk and that worked magically - although 4 months down the track that too is now coming back with a vengeance.

I have recently started Bikram yoga- A type of Yoga done in a very hot very humid room that allows your body to stretch much easier than normal and under the close watch of my teacher, I am back to getting some much needed pain relief.

Does anyone else have any stories about non surgical success? does anyone know any good Physiotherapist/Personal trainers that specialise in scoliosis? Preferably in Western Sydney/ Hills District?

I am so sick of just sitting there and feeling as though my spine is being pulled left right and all over the place, and whenever I stop thinking about my posture I find i'm twisted around a chair or lying down twisted to aid my curve. And the pain..which I am sure every member of the forum has experienced, so over it all, but know I must persevere.

How big is your curve? I'm at 43 at the moment and have found Reformer Pilates classes to help me quite a bit.

Hi, just wondering if you found anywhere that runs classes in the hills district? I'm also 26, live in the same area and my scoliosis is worsening. If there is anyone that you would recommend to see in the area please private message me! Drs are hopeless and just tell you to be more aware of posture etc. so frustrating!!!
