Default Horse riding after surgery?

Hello Everyone. I have been avidly reading everyones post and would like to say thank you for all the advice and information.
Our 14 year old has FG Syndrome, which amongst other issues, he has low muscle tone which has probably been a significant contributor to his scolliosis. Luke has a scolliosis which measured 46 in November and 55 on February 19. We are meeting with an interstate specialist next week but have been told that urgent surgery is probably what is needed due to the rapid progression of the curve.
We have so many things to process at the moment!! But of main concern to Luke is will he be able to go back to riding his horse following a suitable wait period after surgery?
I have read that a lot of people go back to various sports, dancing etc but have seen no mention of horses.
Thank you in advance for your replies.
Cheers
Robyn

Hi Robyn, I have no idea re horse riding, but my son has been told 6 months before he can get on his road bike and 12 months before he can go on mountain bike trails. That might give you some indication, but best to seek advice when you see the specialist.

Hello MAB,
Thank you very much for your reply. We spoke to a specialist tomorrow and he said that if all goes well, hopefully Luke can ride his horse after 12 months. Seems like a lifetime for a child but in reality 12 months is a small price to pay for long term health and well being.
