Smile 28 years later

Hi there my name is Simone, I am 41 years of age, have scoliosis and this my little story.

28 years ago I had a Harrington's Fusion and wore a body brace for 12 months. This however didn't stopped me from doing anything except for the one year after the operation. As soon that one year was over of playing no sport I headed straight back onto the basketball court and back into the pool.

In the past 6 years I have managed to complete a half marathon on the Great Wall of China, finish two years in row the Oxfam Trailwalker 100 km Team Challenge, walk the Larapinta Trail in Alice Springs and I'm now training to walk to Everest Base Camp in May next year.

I have had my challenges and back pain now and then, that is life, who doesn't?

Reflecting , I guess I am one of the lucky ones that perhaps was born with a never give up attitude and or perhaps that came about when visiting hospital numerous times as a young child under the age of 13 and seeing children younger than me at the time that would never make it home, perhaps those children I saw and never met continue to be my inspiration.

Big smile, Simone
