Question How long do I wait?

Hello Dr Scoliosis,
I was after your advice.
I am a 56 year old woman who has had scoliosis since childhood.
Just over a year ago my back pain got worse, I asked for a referral to a scoliosis specialist for management.
My specialist suggested spinal fusion, saying I could wait as I have time as my two curves are only 45 degrees.
Feeling stunned by the diagnosis I wanted to wait and see if the curves got worse as he said they would.
12 months later they have both increased to 50 degrees.
- In your opinion when would be a good time to have spinal fusion if the two curves have increased 5 degrees in 12 months and are 50 degrees?
- Would my curves increase another 5 degrees in the next year?
Thanks for your advice.

Hi Chickenz2

It is not possible for Dr Scoliosis to give you specific advice regarding your concerns and your question should be directed to and managed by the specialist you have already seen.

All the best.
