Hi All,
I'm very new to this forum and am hoping someone can tell me the steps to take for my 14 yr old daughter to see a specialist regarding scoliosis. It is quite obvious that she has this condition. I have been watching her posture for a while but have only recently seen the protruding shoulder blade and a terrible curve which is very noticeable when she bends over. She recently saw a physio due to back pain who immediately said to me that she had scoliosis and to get it checked. We made an appointment and saw a GP who spent her time Googling scoliosis and just gave us a name of a paediatrician. She really didn't know what to do. How do I get the ball rolling to see a specialist? Surely this is what the GP should be doing for us? I am happy to go privately if need be. We are in Melbourne. Is there anyone who can advise what to do. |

Hi Cas and welcome to the forum.
Our web page has a specialist directory which lists scoliosis specialists in each State. You would need to obtain a referral to the specialist from a GP and take any x-rays your daughter may have had done along to the appointment together with the referring letter. Admin ![]() |
