Unhappy surgery for starbug

My daughter, starbug, has been having her brace treatment (Spinecor) in Singapore, since we live in Cambodia. Last visit, they said her thoracic curve was more than 50 degrees in brace, and we would need to see a surgeon in Sydney ASAP so she can have surgery there (insurance won't cover it in Singapore). That was in Feb. her first appointment is not until May. We will need to be in a public hospital.

I wonder if there is much chance they will change her to a Boston brace and how long we will have to wait?

Also, after surgery, will she be able to live in Cambodia, with its bad roads and bumpy journeys?

I know you can't tell her future, but any relevant experience will be helpful.
It may be time for our family to move back to Australia.

Smile Re: surgery for starbug

Hi Loving Mama,
Have they booked her in for surgery yet? I am not a professional in these matters, but based on my experience, I think that 'starbug' could live anywhere (within reason) in the world after surgery. The only problem maybe that, your surgeon would have to put you in touch with a Doctor in Cambodia who could monitor her recovery. If I lived abroad and came home for surgery, I would probably not return home until after the 6 week mark, just to be on the safe side. Best wishes Mama, let us know how you go.

The appointment is for Sydney and that is where all my family, friends and possible accommodation is. The surgery date is not set yet.

My main concern about Cambodia is the roads here can hurt anyone's back, ie. very jolting, and the medical help is not great, ie. some foreign-trained doctors but no specialists, bad hospitals.
