Default Please can anyone tell me the path to take? GP not helpful

Hi All,
I'm very new to this forum and am hoping someone can tell me the steps to take for my 14 yr old daughter to see a specialist regarding scoliosis.
It is quite obvious that she has this condition. I have been watching her posture for a while but have only recently seen the protruding shoulder blade and a terrible curve which is very noticeable when she bends over.
She recently saw a physio due to back pain who immediately said to me that she had scoliosis and to get it checked.
We made an appointment and saw a GP who spent her time Googling scoliosis and just gave us a name of a paediatrician. She really didn't know what to do.

How do I get the ball rolling to see a specialist? Surely this is what the GP should be doing for us? I am happy to go privately if need be.
We are in Melbourne. Is there anyone who can advise what to do.

Hi Cas and welcome to the forum.

Our web page has a specialist directory which lists scoliosis specialists in each State. You would need to obtain a referral to the specialist from a GP and take any x-rays your daughter may have had done along to the appointment together with the referring letter.
