Default Scar care

Hi All,

What is everyone doing about scar minimization? Has anyone used bio oil, or vitamin E oil, or Mederma gel or something else? How many weeks after the surgery have you started the treatment?

M's surgery was on Feb 16, T5 to L4 and a high degree of correction achieved, we have been told. Home now and the pain management was difficult to begin with but the pain is much less now. M is finding the limitations a bit frustrating and is still sleeping quite a lot more than she is used to.

Cheers,
Margaret

Hi Maggie, Glad to hear alls gone well, with a great correction. They get better day by day, just be patient. We used Rose-hip Oil, but any of the ones you mentioned would do same job. Our scars have healed beautifully. The lengthening scar, not so great, from repeated incisions, but, glad to say our infection has stayed away this time, with only 4 weeks till next surgery.

All the best for your daughter.
Take care
Tracy

Hi Maggi,

I have used Bio oil on my 14 year old since 6 weeks post op that is once the strips and stitches dissolved. Also was recommended to rub the oil in circular movement instead of downwards along the scar. Scar is flat. Good luck.

Thanks very much for the tip about the circular movement. We will be 3 weeks post-op tomorrow so it is too soon to start yet.
