Default Can my scoliosis get worse years after surgery?

Hi Dr S,

I had surgery in 1994 to correct my scoliosis at the age of 15. I then had the rods removed 4 years later due to pain I was getting from them.
Since then my back has been pretty good. I have had 3 children and have only had the normal aches and pains when it come to my back.

Recently at age 37 now I have noticed that my right side ribs are sticking out noticeably more than my left. I've also been having pain on and off in my lower back, sometimes to the point that im walking hunched over.

So my question is, is it possible that my scoliosis could be progressing still even though I've had spinal fusion in my part of my spine?

is it something that would require treatment or further surgery to stop it getting worse?

Its not unbearable or too noticeable to others at this stage but not sure if this will get worse over time?

Thanks so much for your time and any advice is appreciated.

Abby
