Default We have a date

Hi all
Have been given a date of 23 August for our 15 years old son's surgery. At his last appointment the surgeon ordered a CT scan as he was concerned about some of the lower vertebrae, got the results today and unfortunately it showed he has some faulty lower vertebrae, which could cause lower back problems in the future and may mean further surgery one day, but for now the operation goes ahead as planned. He still suffers no pain so that's good, but it appears to be getting worse, but maybe we're just imagining it because we're watching him all the time, will be good to have it behind us. Hope everyone's well, been interesting to read of people's experiences.
Sue

Hi Sue,
So glad you have a date. That's not good about the lower vertabrae but it is good he isn't experiencing any pain at this stage. I know Dom's surgeon mentioned that he will probably need surgery again in his 40s as he will have problems with his lower back by then. Really stressed me at first then but have pushed it away now and have just determined to always keep his private health insurance paid!
How are you both doing? I know when we first got surgery date it seemed to be forever away but it comes up quickly.

Hi again Sue,
Your comment about him seeming to get worse everyday...I know they say it doesn't progress that fast but Dom's sure did, it was like he changed in front of our eyes (measurements showed that it did) everyday he seemed to wake up both taller and more crooked.
Dom is good but counting the days until his July checkup as he is really hoping to get the all clear then to be back into everything. Think he will get a bit down then if he can't. We have the long awaited cardio thoracic appointment next week, being very calm outwardly but starting to stress a little about that now. Will just be good for Dom to know what is happening.
Cheers
Annette

Thanks Annette, we're all coping really well now, but I'm sure that will change closer to the date. Jake keeps pretty busy with schoolwork, plus has his first girlfriend so that helps to keep his mind off other things! Let us know how Dom goes at his check ups.
