Smile Progression of scoliosis

Hi everyone

Just wanted to know if there was anyone out there with moderate scoliosis where the curve has not progressed. I have noticed in a lot of articles on the Internet they advise scoliosis usually does not progres and the specialist I seen earlier this year also said the same thing and not to stress about it. However, everyone who has it, have said it gets worse with age.

Thanks!

I'm not one of them Jess. I was told at 13 that they had no idea whether it would progress. It didn't much, until I turned 50 then off it went. I know a few people with scoliosis and every one of them progressed. However, I've also read that scoliosis doesn't always progress. Would love to know the figures.

Hi there, my scoliosis has progressed. I wore a milwalkee back brace all through high school. When finished I had a 15 & 9 degree curve. In my early 20's it was 25 & 25 degrees, now I am in my late 40's it has progressed to 39 & 35 degrees!

Hey Jess, the likelihood of progression is bigger if your curve is bigger. (http://early-onset-scoliosis.com/ima...hart%20ais.gif) - this image will give you an indication!

Hey Jess,
I was diagnosed with a minor case of Scoliosis when I was 11. The doctor promised me it wouldn't get worse.
Then when I was 18 we discovered it had progressed to 'S' Bend Scoliosis, which over a 1 year period got worse.
How I have to wait for it to progress even further before any medical professionals will do anything about it.
