Default Help with my 5 yr old and his brace

Hi, I'm new to the forum. My son wore his brace home from the hospital today for the first time. I just don't know how to support him. He started school last week and will go in for his first full day on Monday wearing his brace.
I welcome any advice, would love to make contact with people in our home town of Adelaide.
Thanks,
A very worried mum

Hi and welcome. I hope some one on the forum can help you. I imagine it very stressful watching your kids go through this. Be strong and loving, that's what he needs plus encouragement. Hope school goes smoothly for him

My 3yo went to Kindy in her brace and now goes in a cast. We have always told the other kids "It's her body armour". We say she is like a super hero and needs her body armour for protection against baddies.

It seems to work pretty well and the other kids are impressed. Other then that everything else goes as normal. We showed 3 of her teachers how to take on and off the brace as we couldn't keep her in it all the time. It was good for the teachers to know how to replace it as they would often find it in the playground when she ditched it!

I hope that helps!
