Thank you for your question. Scoliosis surgery can be performed as a adult. However, the type of procedure may be different from that a teenager with a more flexible spine would have.

In general, the surgery for adult scoliosis involves more extensive surgery, with longer fusions. It tends to leave the back stiffer. Various investigations , including bending X-rays and MRI scans, are needed to plan the operation.

It does, like most adolescent scoliosis operations, make you taller by a few centimetres.
