Hi everyone,

I have a mild scoliosis and i have been getting like phantom pains in my back,, like there is preassure against my back to the side of my spine as if something is pushing against my skin but it feels a bit different to what u would usually feel, i was wondering if it was possible that my spine is applying preassure against something else in my back?

I assume that you have had an x-ray to establish that you have scoliosis. In many instances a curve develops without any symptoms whatsoever apart from the outward change in body shape. However, for inexplicable reasons, a mild scoliosis may be associated with some "mild" aching discomfort as the curve develops but not "phantom pains" as you have described. There are many conditions in which spinal curvature occurs and I suggest you read About Scoliosis (http://www.scoliosis-australia.org/scoliosis/about_scoliosis.html) on our website. Severe pain with scoliosis is a "red flag" and further investigation beyond an x-ray is indicated. You are well advised to ask your family doctor to refer you to a spinal specialist and a directory (http://www.scoliosis-australia.org/scoliosis/scoliosis_specialists.html) (Australia-wide) of specialists who are members of the Spine Society of Australia is on our website.
