I recently had an appointment with my specialist who confirmed that my discs under my fusion and rod implant that was placed about 3 and aare being damaged due to this fusion..is this the same as deginerative scolosis? and what can be done to slow the process as i am only 19

Thank you for your enquiry but I regret that I cannot answer the questions that you have posed on the basis of the information provided. However, some general comments. From what you have written you clearly do not have a degenerative scoliosis. This is a form of curvature quite different from adolescent idiopathic scoliosis which appears relatively late in life due to disc degeneration. Degenerative scolioses are never very severe but they can be quite painful.

It is usual for spinal surgeons to try and conserve at least three mobile intervertebral discs in the lower lumbar region to meet the demands of normal activities.

I think it would be purposeful for you to return to see your surgeon and have prepared the questions you would like to have answered.
