View Full Version : Scoliosis worse after two ops??

I had two operations, aged 13 and 19yrs and I am now 38, two years ago I went to the Chiropractor for my back to find out from the x-rays that my curvature is worse than it was 12, before any ops. At age 19 they re-set my rib cage and informed me in the operating theatre that they would take out my rod, it's ok, they said, your bones had fused.....quite clearly this was not the case. What do I do now, and should they have taken out my rod as it has deteriorated over the years and a major op taking up to 2 yrs to recover is the only option. Any advice would be greatful. These ops were in the UK not Australia. thanks for listening.

Thank you for your enquiry. Unfortunately on the information provided I cannot give you any advice apart from that it is important that you see a scoliosis specialist at the earliest opportunity. The need for this is your reporting that the curve has increased since your last operation.

Our website carries a directory of scoliosis specialists and scoliosis clinics in Australia (http://www.scoliosis-australia.org/scoliosis/scoliosis_specialists.html) and your family doctor would need to refer you according to your location. When you go for review you should take all the past radiographs you have in your possession.

I trust this information is helpful.
