Smile 5 days post revision surgery ..we are home

Just thought I'd pop in and say Miss 14's revision surgery was a breeze!

They removed and replaced screws from T2 - T7 (turned out that two of the screws were broken), and she was in surgery for just 2.5 hours.

She went straight to the ward afterwards, no ICU, no blood transfusions ..YAY. Within 24 hours she was standing beside the bed, within 48 hours she was walking around the ward, within 72 hours her only pain relief was panadol and ibuprofen.... and she'd even ventured out of the ward ... lured by the offer of free wifi at the hospital café.

So here we are back home on day 5 and she is rating her pain level as 0 out of 10 ... which is a huge improvement on 9 out ten in the weeks leading up to surgery.

Such a relief and so happy for her.

Smile Re: 5 days post surgery ..we are home

Thanks Ladies, I really cant believe the speed of her recovery this time around. She was determined that she should go to school today. I managed to convince her to spend it getting school stationery and a new bag (not allowed a back pack ... so it's been a bit of a mission to find something that we could agree on).... followed by lunch at a café instead.

She will return to school on Monday for half days as she's worried about getting behind on her studies (and socialising with her mates I bet!).

Its a tough job to convince her she needs to slow down when she is feeling so great.
